(Co)Action Lab. Test. Share. Collaborate. Change Lives.

Dear colleagues:

As today's news reports show, not all social change embraces compassion, collaboration, and collective care. Social transformation built on these ethical principles requires a supportive community with the imagination to try new things and the authenticity to nurture your growth. If you are a current or aspiring ethical social change-maker seeking such a community, apply to join the (Co)Action Lab.

This community of practice from yuroboros SPC supports social change-makers in co-creating a caring world. I launched (Co)Action Lab in 2018 to connect activists, scholars, journalists, and practitioners for exploring, testing, and co-creating responses to our world's most intractable issues. Our legacy members have co-created action research, global classrooms, and policy changes. These engaged practices have improved social, environmental, and economic conditions and understanding in places around the globe. I am excited to open membership to support more social change-makers who share a commitment to fostering compassion and collective care in their communities.

The application is now open. It asks for contact information, demographic information, why you're applying for membership, and your social change experience. Demographic information helps us ensure diverse identities and experiences in each Practice Group. Although social change-maker experience is not necessary to apply, an aspiration to integrate social change for a more caring and compassionate world is a prerequisite for membership.

Social change aspirations or experience might include:

  • integrating anti-oppressive practices and principles into your organization's policies and procedures,
  • improving your professional skills in using non-violent communication or systems-based approaches, or
  • bringing more strategic planning and collaborative actions to your involvement in environmental or urban justice organizing.

Ethical social change addresses many sources of suffering such as conflict, abuse, addiction, and discrimination. It can also address wicked problems and crises that include

  • climate and the natural environment,
  • housing and infrastructure,
  • education and training,
  • social and economic participation,
  • urbanization and urban rights,
  • energy transformation,
  • human rights, and
  • political conflict and war.

If your application matches our social purpose and mission, there is a nominal fee to join. Thanks to the social mission of yuroboros SPC, we keep this cost as low as possible. It may even be free, depending on the Practice Group you join. Notably, we reinvest 10% of all paid membership fees in our members through (Co)Action Lab's Community Action Trust. Everything we do reinvests in you.

I invite you to apply directly at https://www.yuroboros.com/apply/.

Contact us if you have any questions or feedback. And I hope to see you in the Lab!
